I was brought up in a concrete new town, built in the 1940s, and escaped to the West of England in 1978, where I've remained ever since. Bristol has been my home since 1982, and I love the place. It's friendly, it's cosmopolitan, it's big enough to be fun and small enough to be cosy.

Friends of mine who don't live in Bristol have always been surprised at what Bristol has to offer - for instance, many tourists to Britain visit Bath, but never think of visiting Bristol. I've always found this strange - Bristol has so many treasures, why keep them secret?
