Daath: The Hidden Sephira

DAATH

You've stumbled across Daath, the hidden sephira - the sphere without a number.

Daath means Knowledge. Knowledge without Understanding. It is situated in the area of the Tree called The Abyss. It is sometimes called "The False Head" - coming up from the bottom of the Tree, it can look like Kether; but looks are deceiving. Daath is not the jewel that lies beyond the Abyss - it is IN the Abyss, and is also the gateway to the terrifying reverse side of the Tree, the zone of the Qlipoth - the demons and diseases that haunt our darker side.

Daath corresponds to the throat chakra.

 

Daath represents the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil" mentioned in the bible.

Tasting the fruit of that tree is what makes us human - the search for knowledge. This is a positive quest. However, seeking knowledge in its own right can, if we're not careful, prevent us from attaining that which lies beyond - the supernal triad.

Seek, but be aware that the Universe does not stop at this sephira - the true prize lies beyond.
